A rare gem of a variety, our Mourvedre is back! This killer offering flashes aromatics of red plum, cracked pepper, black cherry and star anise. a 50% whole-cluster fermentation adds a spicy backbone with a full body and plush tannins. On the palate, the fruit shows depth with a decadent mouthfeel, rounded with blackberry, ripe raspberry and a subtle hint of pepper and sweet tobaccco. This wine is a head-turner and showing more grace than her age would suggest. Enjoy now or cellar through 2032.
Suggested food pairings: With strong tannins, Mourvèdre pairs well with high-protein and fatty foods - meats with lots of umami like beef short ribs, pork shoulder, lamb, rabbit and veal. Savory, grilled shiitake and portobello mushrooms, lentils and wild rice are a great base to pair with flavors of soy and black pepper.
