2022 Damsel Cellars Stillwater Creek Mourvèdre

Back again as a single variety, our Mourvèdre has become a wine to covet. A perennial favorite, this peppery wine shows us a cheeky, red-fruited side in this newest vintage. Fermented 50% whole cluster and aged in neutral barrels allows the fruit to shine without extra adornment. She’s elegant and simply a stunner. On the nose, this wine shows plum, cherry fruit leather with floral undertones and a touch of winter thyme. Soft across the palate, medium bodied with none of the aggressive tannins you’d expect from a wine so young. A fun partner to high-protein, high-fat dishes, Mourvèdre accentuates meats with lots of umami like short ribs, lamb, rabbit and veal. Shitake and portobello mushrooms, lentils and wild rice with soy and black pepper are also delish. Enjoy now through 2032.
