2023 Damsel Cellars Boushey Vineyard Marsanne
100% Marsanne
Boushey Vineyard, Yakima Valley AVA
93 points, James Suckling, JS Wine Ratings - "This fragrant, flavorful wine from a renowned vineyard spotlights a grape variety that rarely stands on its own, but is blended with other white Rhone types. A nutty, apple-peel aroma and vivid bosc-pear flavors are braced by light acidity and a light body in this gem of a wine. Drink now or hold. Screw cap."
Typically, a blending grape, this expression of Marsanne stands firmly on its own. Our Marsanne is fermented in barrels as a nod to the traditional winemaking techniques in France and to encourage a glossy body and enticing aromatics. On the nose, this Marsanne has golden fruit, spiced pear, jasmine and candied ginger. After primary fermentation, we tank the wine in stainless steel which translates to a viscous presentation of orchard fruit at the front of the palate moving into a lively, refreshing acidity that begs for another visit to the glass. This wine is layered and complex but is equally approachable with it's rich texture and ripe fruit as a great partner to many foods.
